Baby Blanket and more...

Photos of Myah's baby blanket are now posted. I even included one of her looking at the blanket while laying on the couch.

Working on fleece cheerleading items, pillowcases and great big 21"x21" ragtime pillow.

In these last few days I've made about 10 pillowcases, finished a pair of fleece pants, sewed a new pillow, volleyball cynch bag and hemmed 3 pair of dress pants. I think I've accomplished quite a bit and can take on more projects beside going back to work full time.

Stay tuned! I'm sure I'll have more to update you on over the next week.

Quilt Restoration Completed

Well another day is justing getting started with the quilt restoration project being completed. It looks really great and should last this family many more years. Some of the fabric pieces are really fun to look at and wonder where they were taken from in order to piece them into this quilt.

I was able to carefully cut apart the top of the quilt from the backing, batting and the ties that held it together. From there, I was able to see how much material had been folded over that could be layed out to provide an additional couple of inches to the top of the quilt. New batting, backing and ties were added to this quilt to bring new life back to it.

On to more volleyball projects for tournaments over President's Day weekend.

Quilt Restoration

I'm starting something new and different. Someone came to me to see if I could restore a very old quilt that her Grandmother had made for her family. It was very well used, tattered around the edges and had been well loved over the years. This was something that was absolutley worth saving and was something that I could restore.

It was really fun to begin to carefully take it apart, not knowing what I would find behind the backing. Every stitch was hand stitched, pieces of material were put together like a jigsaw puzzle, and beautiful embroidery decorated the the top of the quilt.

The backing was paper thin material, the lining was a gauze type of material and old flour sacks adorned that back of some of the old material from the front. I believe some of the material could date back to the '40s.

It's currently under construction with new cotton batting & a new backing being sewn. So far, it's looking pretty good. It's going to be heavy duty and should last for many more years to come. A photo will be posted upon completion.

Weekend Time

This weekend is looking really nice outside so we'll be taking advantage of getting out and enjoying the weather.

We're off to volleyball later today, with several flannel pillowcases in tow hoping to sell them all. I just made up five more pillowcases on Thursday, three of which are peguin material. Photos will be posted shortly. Hoping we have some Echo Park Peguin fans around that would love to add this to their bed set.

Today is "GO COOKIE DAY" as well, so if we come knocking, you know why we're there:)

Have a great weekend. I'm now established on facebook and have a page dedicated to my sewing & quilting services. For some reason my photos post to my regular page. Oh well, technology is great!

Facebook Connection

Wow, I'm really going outside my comfort zone and am now creating a Facebook page to make some new connections and market my sewing business! I'm trying to link my blog information to my Facebook page and visa versa.

Visit my Facebook page, Teresa Dessellier Lanenberg, to see the latest & greatest. There will probably be many edits along the way. If you like my work, feel free to post a comment on my wall!

It's a Steeler's Weekend

You heard it correctly. It's been all about the Pittsburgh Steelers for me this weekend! I'm working on my next project, which is a Pittsburgh Steelers duvet and pillowcase for a friend. The colors, black & gold, really do look sharp together. A bit of flare was added to the duvet, with creating the gold, red, blue & white from the diamond emblem on the football helmet. A photo will be posted very soon!

As for my next project, well, I should finish the baby quilt and then on to making more volleyball pillowcases. Our power league is next weekend so I would like to have several ready to sell. Cross your fingers, they will go quickly!

Until next time, good evening.

Valentines

Can you believe I'm already moving onto the next holiday? It was my sister-in-laws fault:) She introduced me to this great new store where I found some really great Valentines ideas for pillows. Who knows, maybe someone would be interested in one of these sugar free gifts for their sweetheart in their life.

I have assorted sizes in different colors and materials. Easy to take off and wash and slip on a new cover. Anyone interested, I'm in the sewing mood!

Finishing One Project

Well it has been a while since I've been able to share my sewing and shopping adventures. The holidays came and went with all our family and friends. It was great to see everyone and enjoy some sewing time with my Mom.

I have completed a custom order for a Green Bay Packers Duvet and pillow case & covers, which are now posted for all to see. They turned out really nice! Durable, washable and very football friendly.

The duvet was made out of cotton twill, which is a nice heavier weight material on the bed. The Packers material is 100% cotton.

Hope the birthday boy loves it!
