Sleepless in Apple Valley

Remember the movie "Sleepless in Seattle" when neither character could sleep, because they wondered about this mysterious person from the radio. Well, let's just say that I'm sleepless in Apple Valley, not because of some mysterious person, but because of the prospect of new sewing projects. I layed awake thinking about how to lay out the patterns, how much material I would need, which project to start first, maybe I should get up to sew right now (this was at 2AM)...unfortunately, this went on until I had to get up at 5:30am. Now I'm ready for bed and can't take advantage of that either since it's time to get the kids up and ready for school! Oh well, I'm sure tonight will be much better.

I am excited since I have a new baby quilt that I'm working on, which will be really adorable. It's browns, blues, lime green and a bit of orange. The other projects will be more pillowcases, a couple of duvets and possibly flannel pants. Now you can see why I can't sleep since this is all so much fun to work on!! Now, if only I had an embroidery machine! I could do so much more.

Well a girl can always dream, once she falls asleep.

Twas the week before Christmas

The count down has begun for Christmas, but in our house it has accelerated. We will be celebrating Christmas five days early, so all the stocking stuffers, gifts, wrapping and food need to be ready at a faster pace this year!! Knowing that I'm caught up on all my sewing orders, it felt good to clean up the dining room table to get it ready for our meal tomorrow. This will only be a two day hiatus and then I'll be back to sewing again on Monday...new fabric has already been purchased and is waiting to be cut:)

To all a good night.

Frigid Day

I'm not looking forward to a long and cold winter if it is going to be below zero and subzero windchills! The gas company will love me, if that is the case, since I'll be overriding the programable thermostat!

Busy finishing some of the last couple of fleece pillowcases for people. It's kind of hard to stop making them, since there are so many great prints available to buy. You know what they say, you end up like your Mother or Father...well, I defintely have the love of fabric like my Mom:) I will need to keep it in check since I don't have the space to store it all and Mike isn't willing to add an extra room to accommodate this for me either.

Off and working, but will soon start a new project...a rag time quilt. I've never done one and they look so cute and fuzzy, so that will be my next challenge!

Until next time.

Sports Theme

I found this really fun volleyball fleece print fabric yesterday and was so excited about it, I went back today and bought the rest of the bolt. I also found a really cute soccer print that I am planning on making a few pillowcases out of that fabric now.

I definitely have the sewing bug and am finding that my days are too short with other responsibilities that get in the way. This bug will last a while!

Emjoy these new prints...limited supply on the volleyball material, but plenty more fantastic fleece prints available!!

Snow Day

Well it's happened...school was canceled and everyone is home today. Hurray!

I'm very excited to have posted all the finished pillowcases and the Dinosaur baby quilt. Scroll down to see all the photos. It's true, photos never truly show the details and how nice these really look.

Stop over or call me if you'd like to see anything I've posted or if you or anyone you know is looking for that homemade Christmas gift or stocking stuffer! These pillowcases roll up really nice to fit into a stocking:)

Snowing & Sewing

I love it when it's snowing outside so I don't feel compelled to be out driving around or walking the dog. It's my time to sew and feel grateful that I can be inside working on things that I love to do.

I'm still trying to focus on sewing the binding on this baby quilt so I can post the picture. Evelyn has given it the thumbs up!! (Thank you.)

Completed four flannel pillow cases yesterday and will finish two more tomorrow. They are so cute and will make some kids very happy to rest their tired heads on.

Enjoy the snow...and I'm hoping it will NOT be a snow day for schools tomorrow!

Shopping Day for new Materials

Oh, do I enjoy the days when I can go out fabric shopping. My friend, Evelyn, and I went to a couple of different fabric stores on a hunt...for some really cute materials for a new project. We found many new prints and solid fabrics that will be absolutely adorable.

I can't wait to begin sewing...need to wait for the fabrics to be done drying:)

Custom made pillow cases w/French seams

Well, I started my day off sewing the binding to another VERY cute baby blanket, which will be posted soon. In addition to that start to the day, I stitched up a quick pillow case w/French seams to post a sample for potential buyers.

This is such a fun project to do since you can mix and match many colors, prints and fabrics as an easy way to accessorize any bedroom. GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEA:)

Baby quilt complete and posted for viewing

Well the baby boy quilt (Stars & Moon) has now been completed, so I feel compelled to move on to my next project. I don't know what it will look like, but more than likely will be a baby quilt for a girl...I love piecing the fabrics together to create a new design!

Pillow and quilts are available to purchase...great gift giving ideas!
